Frequently asked

Questions serious buyers ask early.

Clear answers are part of a clear acquisition process. If your question is specific to an opportunity, start a confidential conversation.

Ask a question
01Is Blackhall & Co a business broker?

Blackhall & Co holds a NSW Class 1 Business Broking Licence, but our model is deliberately buy-side. We are engaged by buyers and keep the buyer's objectives and interests at the centre of our work. We do not act for the seller of a business we are helping you acquire.

02What does a business acquisition adviser do?

We help a buyer turn broad ownership ambitions into clear acquisition criteria, identify potential businesses, assess commercial fit, communicate with sellers and advisers, and navigate the transaction process. We complement—not replace—your legal, accounting, tax, finance and other specialist advisers.

03Can you find businesses that are not publicly advertised?

Yes. Depending on the mandate, we can combine advertised-market coverage with discreet, targeted approaches to owners of potentially suitable businesses. Private outreach can broaden the opportunity set, although no search can guarantee that a particular owner will wish to sell.

04Do you work with first-time buyers?

Yes. First-time acquisition buyers often benefit most from a structured process, an independent sounding board and clear coordination between advisers. We also work with experienced owners, corporate executives, investors and international buyers.

05How long does it take to buy a business?

There is no standard timetable. The search may take months, and a suitable transaction still needs time for negotiation, finance, due diligence and documentation. We focus on decision quality and fit rather than forcing an acquisition to meet an arbitrary deadline.

06How are your fees structured?

The scope and fee structure depend on the mandate, the search requirements and the support you need. We explain the proposed engagement clearly after an initial conversation, before any work begins.

07Can you review a business I have already found?

Yes. Opportunity Review is a separate service for buyers who already have a business in mind and want an independent commercial perspective before committing further time or capital.
